Physician (MD/DO) Position Summary The Pulmonary and Critical Care
Physician provides comprehensive care for patients with complex
pulmonary diseases and critically ill conditions. This role
includes inpatient critical care management, pulmonary
consultation, and outpatient pulmonary medicine, working
collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver
high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care. Essential
Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct care for critically ill
patients in medical, surgical, or mixed intensive care units
Evaluate and manage acute respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, and
multi-organ dysfunction Diagnose and treat pulmonary conditions
including COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary
infections, pulmonary hypertension, and lung cancer Perform and
supervise pulmonary and critical care procedures consistent with
training and privileges (e.g., bronchoscopy, airway management,
mechanical ventilation, thoracentesis, vascular access) Lead and
participate in multidisciplinary ICU rounds and care coordination
Provide inpatient pulmonary consultation services and outpatient
pulmonary clinic care Interpret pulmonary diagnostic studies
including pulmonary function tests, imaging, and sleep studies as
applicable Participate in rapid response, code, and emergency
airway teams as required Communicate effectively with patients and
families regarding clinical status, prognosis, and goals of care
Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice
providers, and nursing staff as applicable Maintain accurate and
timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement,
patient safety, and outcomes initiatives Comply with all
regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic
Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school Completion of an
accredited Internal Medicine residency program Completion of an
accredited Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship
Board-eligible or board-certified in Pulmonary Disease and Critical
Care Medicine Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state
medical licensure DEA registration or eligibility BLS and ACLS
certification Skills and Competencies Expertise in pulmonary and
critical care medicine Strong clinical judgment and rapid
decision-making abilities Ability to manage high-acuity, complex
patients Excellent communication and interdisciplinary teamwork
skills Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient safety
Work Environment Intensive care units, inpatient hospital settings,
and outpatient pulmonary clinics Shift-based or call-based
scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout ICU,
hospital, and clinic environments Manual dexterity for bedside and
procedural tasks Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient
monitoring and emergency response Requirements Must maintain state
certification and/or licensure.
