Your annual paid leave accrual increases as your tenure increases.Legal Secretary III -- Performs complex legal secretarial and administrative support work for one or more Department attorneys. Maintains complete and accurate control of legal files. Work includes preparing and typing legal and administrative correspondence and documents. Develops and maintains appropriate and professional working relationships with agency staff and the legal community. Assists in establishing and maintaining tracking systems to ensure timely and efficient processing of all legal tasks within the unit. Prepares travel requests and reports for staff. Ensures that the offices is adequately supplied and office equipment is maintained. Performs other duties as assigned. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative concerning proper methods and legal procedures to accomplish assigned duties.Essential Job Functions:Drafts legal documents and schedules court hearings in a timely, efficient manner. Maintains case tracking system for Department attorneys. Coordinates the release of Department records pursuant to subpoenas received from various sources. Knowledge Skills Abilities:In addition to those listed under "Job Description", demonstrate knowledge of spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, grammar and arithmetic. Ability to record and prepare chronology of events. Ability to prioritize work and complete tasks in an efficient manner. Ability to plan and organize work flow. Ability to handle telephone calls in a professional manner. Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, as well as the ability to learn the use of other computer programs; ability to keep confidential information confidential. Registration or Licensure Requirements:None required, but Notary Public is preferred. Initial Selection Criteria:Some education beyond high school preferable. Prior secretarial experience.
