JOB TITLE: Career and Education Outreach SpecialistOBJECTIVE: Under general supervision, provide career and labor market information to 6th-12th grade students and help prepare the future workforce to make educated decisions about their career ANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:1. Reports to: Director of Youth Career and Education Services2. Directs: N/A3. Other: Works closely with other Career and Education Outreach Specialist, Director of Youth Career and Education Services, Student HireAbility Navigator, and other Board and workforce staff, as appropriate.4. Eligible for telecommutingGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:This is a very responsible position with independent decision-making authority. Duties include, but are not limited to:i Provide career information and resources to students in grades 6-12, parents/guardians, and school district staff with partner school districts in West Central Texas region.i Serve as primary resource to assigned school district(s) for labor market information at the county, region, and state levels.i Serve as primary resource to assigned school district(s) for career-related tools and resources.i Develop career-related presentations and guides based on the needs of stakeholders.i Support and promote regional Career and Education activities and initiatives such as World of Work (WOW) Youth Expo, Whatis Next Senior Event, and Teacher Externships.i Coordinate with Student HireAbility Navigator in providing career-related services to students with disabilities.i Travel is required within region and limited overnight travel may be required to attend regional, state, or national conferences, workshops, meetings, or trainings.i Other responsibilities, as may be assigned.EXAMPLES OF WORK:i Present to 6th -12th grade students on topics such as regional demand occupations, employability skills, and career preparation in small and large group settings, virtual and in-person.i Introduce students, parents, and educators to tools and resources available related to careers.i Conduct individual career pathway exploration meetings with 8th-12th grade students.i Participate in school events such as Open House or Parent Nights to provide career information and resources.i Engage with and train school district staff members on career tools and resources.Equal Opportunity Employer/Program.Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.i Research current labor market trends to provide viable information to students, parents, and other stakeholders.i Use tools such as Canva, WeVideo, and PowerPoint to create engaging presentation and outreach materials for students, parents, and school districts.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:i Work independently and cooperatively within a team environmenti Excellent organizational and customer service skillsi Establish and maintain effective working relationships with secondary and post-secondary education and training providers, local employers, and studentsi Responsible and efficient with time and task managementi Skilled and effective oral and written communicator with demonstrated ability to work with diverse populationsi Proficient in a variety of computer software applications (Office365, Adobe, MS Teams, Zoom, etc.).ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:i Bacheloris degree from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred. Comparable experience may substitute for a degree.i Strongly prefer individual with direct experience working with youth in a leadership role.CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:Valid Texas motor vehicle operatoris license or available alternate means of transportation.i
