Performs highly complex substanceabuse counseling work within the program. Work involves planning,coordinating, and implementing substance abuse counselingactivities; and coordinating with other departments to ensure themaximum utilization of resources available for chemical dependencytreatment and rehabilitationEssentialFunctions: Assists in planning chemical dependencycounseling programs; and coordinates the delivery of counselingservices to offenders with histories of chemical use, abuse, oraddiction. Provides a comprehensive evaluation from abattery of valid measurement tools to assess the recovery needs andthe re-offense risk ofoffenders. Participates in the Individual Treatment Planbased on the severity and characteristics of the offender asdetermined by the comprehensive assessment, review of collateralinformation, and the Clinicalinterview. Provides counseling and recovery skillstraining; participates in offender orientation, educational andindividual and process counseling groups in compliance with programstandards, guidelines, policies, andprocedures. Maintains offender records and other recordsregarding services provided to include statistical feedback onevaluations; and compiles data and submits reports and relateddocumentation asappropriate. At the conclusion of the program, an IndividualProgress Summary will be developed for each offender on caseload toreflect the evaluation results together with comments about theoffender's level of participation and quality of completion inprograms. Submit copy of the Individual Progress Summaryto the Parole Division to be included in the Parole CaseSummary. Supervises the work of others; and assists ininstructing others in program methods, procedures, andfunctions. -It isexpected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assignedwithin his/her capabilities as determined bymanagement.Education and ExperienceRequirements: Graduation from an accredited senior high schoolor equivalent or GED. Two (2)years full-time, wage-earning experience in substance abusetreatment or substance abuse education. Current license as aLicensed Chemical Dependency Counselor ( LCDC ) by the TexasDepartment of State Health Services ( DSHS ) or current validcertification as a Certified Criminal Justice Professional ( CCJP )as approved by the Texas Certification Board of Professionals orcurrent qualifying credential to conduct counseling in a treatmentenvironment. A validdriver license in the state of Texas with an acceptable drivingrecord required, unless waived bymanagement.Post HireRequirementsMust successfully complete annual in-service trainingrequirements and pass an annual background check, both of whichmust be approved by Texas Department of CriminalJustice. - #ZR#Talent
