Located in Anson, Texas, within Jones County the Solar Site Balance of Plant (BOP) Relay Technician will operate and maintain the solar site by optimizing generation availability and performance through established procedures with the highest regard for health, safety, and environmental compliance. This position will serve as the primary BOP relay technician for the plant installing, maintaining, testing, adjusting, troubleshooting & repairing relay and control equipment in the electrical substation which may include electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor protective relays, instrument transformers, indication and KWH/KW meters, controls to all substation equipment including breakers, transformers, regulators, capacitors, reactors and all associated equipment, and remote control equipment including various forms of SCADA.This position is located at the Anson solar site in Anson, Texas (Jones County), and reports to the Site Operations Manager. This is an hourly role eligible for overtime. The selected candidate must live within 50 miles of the site operations and will work approximately 5-% indoors and 50% outdoors.What you'll do:Become a leader in safety, upholding safety as a core valueActively participate in the behavior-based safety program and ensure every team member and contractor complies with all safety procedures and applicable task-oriented job safety analysesEnsure site safety rules are communicated and adhered to through Site-Specific Orientations, JSAs, and Tailboard MeetingsDemonstrate procedural compliance in all site operation and maintenance activities by utilizing established proceduresFacilitate and implement all daily work as the on-site BOP Tech, including coordinating with service providers, and contractors, and producing Reports including but not limited to Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly reportsOperate site equipment, both directly and remotelyMonitor site performanceCoordinate Switching and Curtailments with relevant local utilities and ISOs.Ensure site equipment is kept at the highest possible standard maximizing availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitabilityDemonstrate work planning skills, activity scheduling, and follow up to assure work conformancePerform routine inspections - safely using tools (e.g. multimeter and IR Camera)Manage contractors, ensuring quality work, is completed safely and promptlyExhibit excellent interpersonal skills that include listening to other's ideas and viewpoints, earning trust, and resolving conflict situationsBecome the primary point of contact for all landownersManage Spare Parts inventoryCoordinate work on-site between different contractorsPerform the housekeeping functions and equipment cleaning necessary to maintain the site in a clean and neat condition.Recommend operating and/or maintenance changes that will enhance plant performance and availabilityMaintain confidentiality of all information available to the positionComply with all contractual and legal obligations impacting plant operationSupport operations at other sites during unusual events (emergencies, etc.).Complete Equipment operation training - contractors orientation, other site's employeesDemonstrate the consistent use of Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques when solving plant abnormalities and equipment failuresBe able to analyze complex problems under the pressure of emergency conditionsUse computerized Work Order, Purchase Requisition, and Receiving softwareWhat you bring:B.S. Electrical Engineering Technology degree or related technology discipline from accredited universityOr a 2-year associate or technical degree from a technical school in electronics or related field with four years of related work experienceOr combination of education, work experience, or military services may be considered in lieu of a degreeA minimum of 4 years of experience industrial MV/HV voltage applicationTrades qualifications considered an asset: (Control Technician, Lineman, Electrician, Millwright)Ability to effectively use diagnostic equipmentKnowledge to troubleshoot, repair and maintain substation equipment such as: electrical control circuits, transformers, high voltage breakers and collection linesProficiency in access substation relay log files and monitoring systemsAbility to put together LOTO for substations, transformers, electrical switches, transmission lines and collectors linesA valid and clean driver's license (and the ability to maintain such)Ability to be on call as deemed necessary by SupervisorExperience to personally respond to plant emergenciesA demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
