Job Details - Location: Brownwood, TX 76801 (Brown County) — Travel Nursing Job in Texas - Setting: Community Hospital – Medical/Surgical Unit (Adults & Geriatrics) - Contract Type: Travel RN assignment - Start Date: March 30, 2026 - End Date: June 29, 2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - Shift: Nights — 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:00) - Hours per Week: 36 hours/week with consideration for 48 hours/week based on facility approval - Weekend Coverage: Required (6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule) - Orientation: 16 hours (includes 6-8 hours of modules) - Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,730 - $1,820 Job Requirements - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Texas RN or Compact RN acceptable (required for Texas travel nursing jobs) - Minimum 2 years of recent medical-surgical (Med/Surg) RN experience - Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NIHSS certification required - Travel nursing experience preferred (prior Travel RN assignments a plus) - Experience with Allscripts or Altera EMR/charting systems preferred - Must be able to complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance - Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered) - Must pass facility drug screen upon arrival (includes marijuana) - Must reside at least 150 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted) Responsibilities - Provide safe, high-quality medical-surgical nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a 13-bed Med/Surg unit - Manage patient assignments at an approximate 1:5 ratio during night shifts and weekends - Care for post-op, orthopedic, diabetes, pneumonia, wound care, and urological cases - Perform and manage IV insertion and maintenance, central/PICC/peripheral line care, and blood product administration - Care for feeding tubes, colostomy/ileostomy management, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound vacs - Provide respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula; interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) - Respond to rapid response and code situations as a night shift RN - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy (PT), respiratory therapy (RT), pharmacy, radiology, and social services - Document patient care accurately using Allscripts/Altera EMR - Participate in one on-call shift per 6-week schedule as needed Apply now — Join our healthcare team today for this medical-surgical travel nurse opportunity in Brownwood, Texas.
